
At the request of a domestic client, we carried out the renovation of a 1600KW hydro power plant permanent magnet generator and automation system.
Traditional 1600kW HPP synchronous generators generally suffer from problems such as complex excitation systems, high energy consumption, and heavy maintenance workload. Furthermore, the available automation systems are mostly conventional relay controls or early PLC systems, which have shortcomings such as slow response speed, low data acquisition accuracy, insufficient remote monitoring capabilities, and delayed fault early warning, making it difficult to meet the current demands of the hydropower industry for efficient, safe, and intelligent operation. Replacing traditional excitation generators with permanent magnet generators, coupled with a new generation of automation control systems, can fundamentally improve the operating efficiency and reliability of the power station.
Core Objectives
Efficiency Improvement: Permanent magnet generators eliminate excitation losses. Combined with optimized control strategies, this improves overall unit efficiency by 3%–5%, resulting in a significant increase in annual power generation.
Enhanced Reliability: Simplified power generation system structure reduces excitation failure points; automated systems provide accurate fault warnings and rapid response, minimizing unplanned downtime.
Intelligent Upgrade: Real-time monitoring, remote control, automatic adjustment, and fault self-diagnosis of unit operating parameters enable a "less-staff, unmanned" operation and maintenance model.
Energy Consumption and Maintenance Optimization: Reduce unit energy consumption and daily maintenance costs, extend equipment lifespan, and improve the power plant's return on investment.
